Hey guys, I’m Anders. I’m the founder of QuitGamble.com. Let me share my story with you.

I left the university in 2012 after 5 years of studies. I had put my soul into learning, and I graduated with degrees in civil engineering and economics. On the side, I had listened to audiobooks about personal development, psychology, and management. I was determined that I would a good job.

Six months after I had graduated, I was still unemployed. I had sent in 200 applications and nobody wanted to hire me. Frustrated? YES! Sad? YES!

After six months, I got an idea and I sent a few very specific emails to 5 high profile CEOs in Sweden. The next day, I got my first interview. It was the beginning of a crazy year. I became more of less head of strategy for a $9B company. It was an insane job and a position that was impossible for a graduate student to hold without prior experience.

I lasted 6 months, six very interesting months, which I’m proud and grateful for.

After that job, it was impossible for me to get another one. I applied for another 200 jobs, without any breakthroughs. I can’t tell you why I didn’t get any job, because I don’t understand it either. All it did was to create resentment towards HR consultants and middle managers.

In 2014, I started my own company. FREEDOM! There are many disadvantages to being an entrepreneur, but there are many advantages too. Are you a glass is a half full, or half empty person? I chose to see the upsides.

Before 2014, I had played online poker for many years. I wasn’t very good, perhaps good enough to make some money in 2006 but not in 2014. The money in the gambling industry tempted me. Not that I needed a lot of money, it was more what I could do with the money. I had always dreamt about making the world a better place. And the gambling industry became a way to earn money.

For 4 years, my life was all about building websites, getting backlinks, and trying to manage employees. Our websites focused on marketing online casinos. We still have some sites left. We don’t work actively with them anymore, but we sell some links on them to help finance Quitgamble.com. My intention is to close them down in the future. Some of you might think I’m an idiot, but I don’t regret anything. I see the time in gambling as an opportunity to learn more about the gambling industry. I believe that is a unique asset I can use for QuitGamble.com.

During 2018, I had a tough time and at the end of the year, I decided I wanted to do something else. After a discussion with a friend, and a fantastic Ted Talk Johann Hari, a new idea was born. What if I could use my knowledge and skill, and combine it with my main interests in personal development and a will to make the world a better place?

Around Christmas 2018, I was in Sweden for 4 days and I didn’t sleep at all for that time. Plans for forming, new ideas, and inspiration were too strong to let me rest at night. After those days, I had a new direction for the company. We’d create a platform to help people with gambling problems.

That was the beginning of 20 months of work. Today, we have launched a platform that I believe will work as a complement to platforms like GA. QG is not a competitor to GA, it’s just an alternative. QG has a different approach, an approach that might fit some people better than GA.

If you have any questions, please feel free to comment!

Thanks for letting me share my story with you!
